We are not 40-something-year-olds playing Michael Jackson and thinking it’s still cool. The connection between the DJ and the crowd is crucial for the success of an event. We provide this important connection by staying up-to-date on new music and catering our music to the crowd. Not only are we happy to take song requests ahead of time, but we are also happy to take them live, the night of your dance. This was the 2nd of three gigs I had that Saturday in Isla Vista (IV), California. The first gig was a popping dayger at an ocean-side house that went from noon to 4. After finishing up at that gig I quickly mobbed to the rooftop of the tallest building in IV. We set up the equipment and even got a bubble machine running just in time for sunset. When the time came for the fraternity formal to begin we were all ready with my new fancy speakers pumping killer tunes, bubbles blowing across the dance floor, and the sun setting into the ocean. It was a magical time. The people were partying, the music was smashing, and we were all smiling. Good Times Indeed!
You may look at this photo and think: wow, what a perfect moment. As someone who lived through the actual event, the truth of the matter was that it was far from perfect. This wedding happened deep in the heart of COVID during the worst wildfires of Oregon’s history in 2020. The air quality was hazardous, vaccines still did not exist, and the wedding would go on. The haze you see in the top part of this picture is not clouds, it’s smoke. Despite everything pulling down the wedding, everyone came together to raise Holly and Russ up. Sometimes when the world pushes you down, others rise to the occasion to bring you up!
This was a picture of me DJing a sweet 16 in northern california. The event was really cool and came with a photo booth, an amazing venue, and me, the DJ! I got the birthday girl on top of my subwoofer and we all sang her Happy BIrthday which was cute. The one thing that really stood out was this one kid asked me to play his favorite song, and right when it dropped he pulled out a full- blown backflip right in the middle of the party. It was wild!
My face may look a little crazy, and you may be wondering what I am wearing, but read on and I will happily explain. So this was the 2nd of 3 angels and demons ragers we had at 6666 Pasado. That glowing box you see behind me was actually a 3-story tall cross constructed by Cameron. He really killed it, the thing was so tall and bright, you could see it from several streets away. Oh and then there’s Travis. So the year before when I had made the first cross someone had decided to climb this 300 pound collection of wood, nails, and LEDs. It was one of the scariest moments of my life but...luckily nothing happened and everyone was fine.This year I made sure not to let anyone near the cross. Many people climbed on the stage and I quickly shouted them down. But how could I say no to Travis? By the way, I am dressed as an angel, hence the yellow shirt and white robe. Judging by the picture I must have been playing a dirty banger at this moment. What can I say, if you ain’t sending it, why do it at all?
OMG, my first full DJ setup. I scraped together a couple old speakers my friend’s band used and a sub that I bought from someone leaving the country. Not gonna lie, it didn’t sound too bad… Good Times, Good Memories, and Good People 🙂
So much can be said of this day. We could talk about how packed the yard was, how epic the setup was, or how wild everything got. The one thing I want to focus in on is my homie and killer DJ Matt. Pictured in front of me here Matt and I were the only ones allowed on “stage” for this gnarly throwdown. By “stage” I am referring to the two strongest die tables we could find. Mat was always someone I could depend on, and vice-versa. I remember one time we were both DJing a party some total Dab tried to come up to the table to probably request some terrible song by Young Thug. Luckily all it took was a gentle push back to get her away from the DJ table. She pretty much toppled over like a jenga stack falling over.

Oh yeah, you better believe this was a solid night. The first wedding I ever DJ’d was an absolute success. From the superb speeches to the mic drops and rowdy dancing this haunted wedding had it all. To be clear, the newlyweds had held their ceremony months before, but had delayed the reception until Halloween. They called it their “Wicked Wedding.” Every single guest (and DJ) dressed up. I was rocking the Peter Pan get-out which was a hit. With the projector shining above our heads and my shoes lighting up the ground we had quite the spectacle.
